Just yesterday, I was lucky enough to get a copy of The Permanent Resident by Roanna Gonsalves (former member of Goa Writers, who lives in Asutralia).
Procrastinating on deadline - as per usual - I picked up the book, and quickly found myself hooked, reading all the way through with increasing delight. It's so good! Her stories made me smile, ponder, recall, marvel and quite often cringe. I also learned a lot - this is an altogether fresh voice and angle to diasporic, Indian and Goan writing. Huge congratulations to Roanna for pulling off a really terrific + significant achievement. Looking forward to more, soon! Note: Roanna Gonsalves will launch 'The Permanent Resident' at Goa Arts + Literature Festival 2016 (Dec 8-11, goaartlitfest.com) in conversation with Jerry Pinto.
