Imagine Donald Trump visiting New Delhi in late December 1961, fresh from an
Indian Army rout of the Portuguese force and while sitting next to Nehru,
discusses Operation Vijay and the reason for such act of aggression by India.

Nehru dismisses the military action breezily, telling Trump "Goa was a part of
India in the past anyway."

Trumps takes that cue and in a widely broadcasted radio interview back home,
says "Goa was always a part of India" adding the "always" to justify American
inaction.

That was a hypothetical. Reality is that Trump said that Korea was once part of
China after coming from a meeting with the Chinese President.

Now, here's a question: Is Trump merely being ignorant as usual or is he giving
a hint of American neutrality in the wake of a North Korean threat to blast
South Korea and hit America hard if it interferes with Pyongyang's business.

There's bound to be a time when ignorance costs.
