Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news: just heard that Fr Francis John (better known by his pet name of *Fanchu*) passed away at the Clergy Home in Margao, and his funeral will be at 4:30 pm this evening (Saturday, Sept 2, 2017). Please reconfirm for timings.
Fr Fanchu was a Jesuit, and I distinctly recall the times when he settled back in our village of Saligao in the 1970s. He was an active and friendly person, and was involved (with my mum's generation, in the 1970s, almost four decades ago, but looks like just yesterday) in the prayer meetings which were popular then. He had many an interesting topic to discuss whenever one met. Some years back, I met him when he was, I think, the parish priest of the Nerul Church. Only recently, while enquiring about him, I was told that he was at the Margao Clergy Home. I recall on one occasion we were both walking back from Arpora to Saligao (having missed a direct bus in those times when public buses were few and far between). Having him for company made the journey look very short, though it must have been a walk of 3-4 kms! It was a priviledge to have known this man. Saligao-Net's condolences to the family. -- _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ _/ _/ फ्रेड्रिक नोरोन्या * فريدريك نورونيا _/ Frederick Noronha +91-9822122436 _/ (Please SMS if you can't get through) _/ _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/
