TO ALL THE EDITORS IN GOA
Everyday we read in the local newspapers several issues which gives us no peace of mind as the Government is perhaps mal functioning with lots of bad decisions, irregularities, illegalities and discrepancies. Say few of them for example; 1. Lucky seven is allowed to enter Mandovi when she is proved unsafe in waters and now pressing CoP to accept the proposal to park off Campal area with an excuse for underwater works, should not be accepted. What will happen if she is grounded there again, will it start working as casino? What will be the fate of environment and pollution over there? Who is responsible? 2. If everything, the Court has to decide what is the role of the Government? Why Court has to be burdened when they have their own pending cases? 3. Tourism Minister proposing a law to stop people from drinking on the beaches and swimming. Will that work? Why not bring a law stopping bad tourists, stray dogs, cows and people playing games like football, basket ball and stalls for exhibition and games on the beaches etc thus damaging sand dunes and beach environment and pollution ? 4. To shut the mouth of the people what we see a senior journalist Gauri Lankesh case, the Bengalaru government allowed a state funeral with some incentives for the family. Is this a fooling game after her death. Why Govt does not bother when people are alive? That means laws come in force only after someone's death? 5. Govt of Goa, plans to appoint two or more experts as consultants and advisors to the ministers with huge salary. Is it because that the Ministers are not capable to handle it? Why heavy salary with perks to Ministers, MP's and MLA's if they do not understand their work? 6. Why there is no law to get rid of stray dogs, cows and snakes on the road? Recently, just yesterday an accident took place to save a snake on the road, and the lady doctor banged her vehicle on the tree. What the government is doing with so many animals on the road? 7. Tenancy Act for Mopa is in trouble.Tiracol land with one man inquiry report by Dy. Collector Agnelo Fernanders is not been accepted by the villagers. Government must come with solid reasons with proofs to convince them. Otherwise this could land into a big trouble as the security and safety of the people is at stake and the Samiti alleges forcible land grab by the government. 8. Lots and lots of issues of illegalities and discrepancies in Panjim and elsewhere in Goa are seen but it is impossible here for me to describe.. Stephen Dias Social worker date: 7th Sept 2017
