Gallery Gitanjali , in association with The Story of Space presents *Shifting *,
a short solo performance by Pavithra Dikshit on the 13th of November 2017 ,from 6:00 to 6:30 pm. Based on the sub-conscious mental shifts people take in a modern Indian setting ,it ranges across a series of subjects and showcases how one has to adapt to the idea that gender rolls out like a red carpet in front of them. Whether they like it or not. *Shifting* aims to educate women, men and children (everyone) on the idea that just because they are modern, does not mean they are free of gender bias. In many small ways, gender precedes and succeeds all that we do and that's a part and parcel of the many sub-conscious mental shifts that occur to people. Shifting first debuted as a series of visual essays exploring gender bias. It was part of the Kadak Reading Room at Gender Bender at the Max Mueller Bhavan - Goethe Institut Bangalore in 2016. *About Pavithra Dikshit* Pavithra Dikshit: A typographer, designer and artist, is presently employed at Landor Mumbai. She is one-third of Postcard People – an avenue to revive sending out postcards and one-eight of Kadak – a collective of South Asian women that works with graphic storytelling of different kinds. Explorations in the cross-sections of life and design, within the Indian context, outline a major part of her practice as a designer. Her limited edition self-published book, ‘Discipline’, debuted at ELCAF; as a short journal featuring her paper salads. It is designed to discuss routines which has been my road to many discoveries.
