------------------------------------------------------- CONVENTION OF THE GOAN DIASPORA FROM GOA INTO THE WORLD Lisbon, Portugal June 15-17, 2007 Details at: http://www.casadegoa.org -------------------------------------------------------
"...person should harbor so much ill-will towards the "Christian section of Goan society. Unfortunately communalism is alive and well not only in politics but in the mainstream of Indian society as well. Charudatt, know this. I am no less Goan because my surname ends with a vowel and you are no more Goan because you can rant about someone being a pro-Christao, whatever that means in this day and age. Let's not be defined by our jingoistic rhetoric,..." Dear Selma, I have absolutely no anagonism or ill-will towards my Christao brethren, please take my word for it. As stated earlier in one post of mine in re. (to kamlakshaI think), I have had more christian friends than Hindus. I grew up in Fontainhas Panjim where there was more Christan population than Hindu. My rant was agaist what came across to me as a pro-christian lobbying on the net, which is supposed to be neutral. My snide remarks of most of yesterday's posts was to make 'noise' against this Dukor thread- it was just a ploy to emplify the sentiment that such posts are not received well by others on the net. Agreed? I say again, I love the Goans. Christians, Hindus, muslims, theists, atheists, agnostics, believers...all Goans. They are terrific folk, and are my brothers. But throwing garbage around on the bases of religion must get some resistance in order for the message to go across, no? I hereby publicly apologise for the irrisponsible and arbitrary tone of my posts of 6.6.2007. "...but rather by a vision large-hearted enough to take our country forward and secure peace for our children..." RE: I am with you on that. Yes! You are a very sensible lady.
