Firstly, I don't think "English is probably her third or fourth
language..." English is virtually the lingua franca (sic) in higher
education in most parts of India today. So, while some speakers hold on to
their first-language (ancestral language or mother tongue or whatever) a
bit more tenaciously than others like us (especially when it comes to
colloquial conversations and every-day use), they would still switch to
English when it comes to academic discourse. In fact, the situation today
is that many find English more convenient to use at least for academic
purposes.

Because of the diverse 'mother tongue' influences, English, of course, is
spoken in many different ways in different parts of India. And is accepted
as such.

And Roland, I don't see any "earthy Goan looks" either.

Sayamprahamba [https://www.swayamprabha.gov.in/index.php/about] gets its
content from institutions across the country and places like NPTEL, IITs,
UGC, CEC, IGNOU, NCERT and NIOS. I'm pretty certain this is not from Goa
(though I posted it because the book deals directly with Goa, one published
in the 1960s, and one most of us might not be aware of, I think).

Tried checking out which universities study this play for BA Hons, and it
could be BSSS Bhopal, Jadhavpur University or the University of Mumbai
(though for its MA English Honours course). I could be wrong, and this is
subject to correction.

PS: I think it's an interesting introduction to a play which mostly goes
unnoticed, and which is probably difficult to buy a copy of anywhere
today....
