It resembles a typical Bombay East Indian village like that in Bandra (Chuim, 
Shirley, Hill Road by-lanes), or Mazagon (Matharpakady) or Andheri (Amboli).

Although initially East Indian Catholic,  Kotachiwadi along with Dabul and 
Cavel were the initial focal points of the great Goan migration to Bombay in 
the early twentieth century before Dhobitalao could become the city’s Little 
Goa.
