Glad to note this. Happy to note I was wrong. But then, I guess the apologists of a Hitler (or a Stalin), a Pol Pot or one of those many dictators supported by the US in the Third World especially Latin America and East Asia, would put up a more sophisticated defence of their views. >From most of your posts, the message I've been reading goes around a few themes: * India colonised Goa (not a word about Portuguese) * We (read, the tiny elite) has lost out on good days * India didn't exist as a nation since 1947 * Goa was never a part of India (by implication, the Portuguese did nothing wrong in over-extending their stay here) * Goans ruled things well during the Estado da India days ... What conclusion am I to draw? When asked, you say you don't support the pre-1961 modus vivendi that the Portuguese arrived at with a section of the Goan elite (cutting across religion, may I say, whatever the pretence is today). But every argument of yours points to something else. Thanks for the civil debate so far, FN -- FN: Frederick Noronha Phone 0091-832-2409490 http://wikiwikiweb.de/MyContacts
