A bit of crapology here. The Portuguese do not have to hide their heads in 
shame. Before the 1999 there was no China market of gamblers. Almost 100 
percent players were from Hong Kong a tiny market compared to what is going on 
today. 
Economic indicators may have boomed after the handover, but the downside to the 
China market is that local youth married or single today have to live with 
their parents or in public housing because the rents and prices of flats are 
exorbitant, some even live across the border because of costs . The rate of 
unemployment is low, but the type of jobs are basically menial. The dwindling 
of freedoms is another negative aspect, and  no one knows what is behind the 
big deals.
Many locals claim that living standards were much better than before the 
handover.

Not surprised that Macau will end up as Qatar of the East.
It seems that whatever the Chinese touch turn to gold. The Portuguese must 
be hiding their heads in shame.
