Sporting Clube de Goa thump Bardez FC;
Velsao SCC inflict shock defeat upon Guardian Angel

Victorino Fernandes was once again at his best as he netted a brace to help Sporting Clube de Goa register a 5-1 win over Bardez FC in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Monday. Marcus Mascarenhas also netted a brace for the Flaming Oranje while Alton Vaz was the other goal scorer for the winning side. Baban Das managed to get onto the score sheet for Bardez. The win takes Sporting Clube de Goa in second position with 25 points from 11 games while Bardez have six points from 10 outings. Bardez FC played a good brand of football in the first half as they managed to walk into the breather goalless with Sporting Clube de Goa. Sporting Clube had their chances through Victorino and Cajetan but the duo failed to make the best of their chances. Changing ends, Marcus Mascarenhas finally put Sporting Clube ahead in the 52nd minute when he received a through pass from Fady Riad and the former made no mistake this time to score the first. However, Bardez FC responded quickly with the equalising goal in the 56th minute through Baban who made the best of a failed clearance of a Bardez corner kick. Altan Vaz gave Sporting Clube the lead once again in the 64th minute. Once up by a goal, Sporting Clube were all over Bardez and soon inflated the lead through their star player Victorino Fernandes, who made amends to his earlier misses when he capitalised on Bardez’ defensive error. The former FC Goa striker then doubled the account int he 83rd minute when he gave finishing touched to Glan Martins low cross front he left. Marcus scored the team’s fifth in the second half injury time to make it 5-1. Meanwhile, at Rosary Navelim ground, Velsao Sports and Cultural Club stunned Guardian Angel SC with a narrow 1-0 win.
The all-important goal was scored by Laiwang Bohham in the 83rd minute.

Churchill Brothers, Ave Maria share the spoils; 
Sporting Clube de Goa, Raia FC register wins

Churchill Brothers FC and Ave Maria Athletic and Welfare Club played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Goa Football Association U-14 League match played at Cavelossim ground, on Monday. Both the teams started the match on equal footings, however, it was Churchill Brothers FC who took the lead early in the eighth minute through Shayne Afonso. But, Ave Maria played their hearts out as they pressed their opponents even when not in possession. Their constant efforts paid dividends when Austin Delroy D’Silva netted the equalising goal in the 20th minute. The first half scores were level 1-1. Crossing over, Churchill Brothers once again took the lead in the 38th minute through Saish Gaonkar. Ave Maria tried their best to get back in the game but couldn't get past the Churchill Brothers FC defence. Just when it looked like Churchill Brothers FC would take home the three points, Austin came with an injury time equalising goal to steal the points from the young Red Machines. In another match at Artificial turf ground, Raia Football Club humbled Young Strikers Benaulim 7-1. Raia FC’s Deep Paswan once again stole the limelight as the striker scored double hat-trick displaying great skills and ability, and qualities of a future striker. Raia FC led 2-0 at the break as Deep and Velory Carvalho gave the winners a well deserved first half lead. Changing over, it was all about Deep Paswan who smashed in five more goals. Enosh Goes pulled a goal back for the losing side. Meanwhile, Sporting Clube de Goa registered a fluent 2-0 win over Compassion FC at Don Bosco ground, Panjim. Sporting Clube scored a goal each in either half through Franzel Fernandes and Nelson.
