Goa register second win
Goa continued their impressive campaign at the National level as they defeated Karnataka in the Round 2 match and qualified for the knockout stages of the U-21 Boys Football Tournament at the Khelo India Youth Games at Pune Maharashtra. Karnataka dominated the match in the opening minutes of the game but Goa stood ground to hold Karnataka 0-0 at the break. Goa’s Jovan Dias and Veegan Ferrao played well in the first session. The teams were tied 0-0 at the break. In the second half Goa's striker Joel Dias by his solo efforts opened the account in the 50th minute. Karnataka did not lose the hopes till the final whistle as they constantly attacked the Goa’s goal. But due to timely interceptions by the defenders Flagan Rodrigues and Jaydan Rodrigues deprived Karnataka from scoring. Goa's captain and goalkeeper Ozen Silva brought off smart saves to keep the score line intact and lead his side for the second consecutive win. With this win, Goa are on six points and earned their qualification in the knockout stages. Goa will next play Punjab on Tuesday.
