Guirdolim Club got the better of United Sports Club Seraulim 5-4 via the
tie-breaker to move to the quarter-finals of the 15th All Goa Guirdolim
Panchayat Cup, organised by Guirdolim Club and played at Chandor Church
ground, on Thursday.
Hosts Guirdolim dominated from the word go and produced an attacking
brand of football. Strikers Melvin Carvalho and Safik Shaik were a
constant threat to the Seraulim defence but missed scoring chances on
several occasions much to the dismay of the partisan local crowd.

Hosts Guirdolim Club move to quarters
Guirdolim Club got the better of United Sports Club Seraulim 5-4 via the

Hosts Guirdolim dominated from the word go and produced an attacking

Seraulim did get opportunities to score on the counter attacks but
Sevaraj D'Costa of Guirdolim stood rock solid in defence. In the 30th
minute, a long range effort by Mario Fernandes of Guirdolim was
brilliantly saved by the Seraulim keeper. The second half was more
evenly contested but again strikers of both teams could not find the
back of the net. Seraulim made a double substitution in the 50th but
could not produce any goals. In the dying minutes Seraulim were awarded
a free-kick at the edge of the box which was saved by Guirdolim keeper
Richard D'Sa diving full length to his right.
The match ended 0-0 at full time. Mario, Irfan, Melwyn, Sevaraj and Dias
were on target for Guirdolim with Sevaraj who stood in goal saving two
penalty kicks. For Seraulim Oliver, Sherwin, Savan and Josmon were on
target. Guirdolim Club will now meet Rossman Cruz Nagoa in the quarter
finals on February 4.
