DOING WHAT IS RIGHT AGAINST EXPEDIENT I was happy to see the DGP firm on implementing the law as against the politicians and public law breakers causing chaos, accidents and death on the roads not following the traffic rules and blaming the Traffic Sentinels. The ridiculous arguments of potographing girls for use in soliciting prostitution, right to privacy and so on are laughable. So is not wanting to wear helmets and our politicians wanting to apease their vote banks, never mind what is lawful and doing what is right. And the hypocracy of piously going to religious places also preaching ensuring law and justice equally to all whilst indulging in cheap popularity beats me! The other day a girl broke the rules at a traffic light, and why cannot a Sentinel photograph and report this? She tells me she could'nt stop rolling over the zebra crossing endangering pedestrians. I brought to her notice that she should slow down when the yellow light comes on, so easily halt before the stop line! Hardly any of the vehicle drivers do this. How can we ever have road safety if educated people and even our senior politicians cannot understand this?Yes, the police need to be more proactive in implementing all the traffic rules without fear or favor, public more disciplined and politicians generally not interfere.
