This is the refrain that is on the lips of an increasing number of
Goan each year on 24 June..the feast of St. John the Baptist or Sao
Joao.
Since the revival and rejuvenation of the 'Siolim Boat Parade'
[starting from Anjuna and Cainsua, through the arm of the Chapora
River, up to the Church of St. Anthony at Siolim] in June 1992 by
cartoonist Alexyz Fernandes, singer Remo Fernandes [now a Padmashri
awardee for music], the celebration has never looked back. It has had
a ripple effect throughout Goa. More and more villages are livening up
their traditional Sao Joao festivities with organised events. So is
GTDC ...and the hotels never lag behind.
