The term "third-world" country is used by the West to denigrate and degrade countries who are struggling to come up. In many cases the West through WTO, IMF, globalization, arms sales, multi-nationals are holding emerging countries back and then turn around and have the gall to call them "third-world". India is emerging and its awards do not suffer the illusion of the British OBE, MBE where the "E" stands for Empire. The British Empire today is the backyard of Buckingham Palace, affectionately referred to as HMB, Her Majesty's Backside.
