Dear Alexander Editor Herald This letter may be considered for Monday Citizen Journalist column.
Just enclosing a photo of a tree still not fully cut nor compound wall is repaired. It took place on last month of August. Every time I pass through the Miramar circle I see this tree fallen due to perhaps torential rains on the compound wall ( see the picture) of Miramar Residency owned by an autonomous body department called Paryathan Bhavan. According to a Manager of this Residency the Fire Brigade had cut the fallen tree after several reminders. I have questioned the Manager when the tree was old it wasn't his duty to inform the Forest dept to cut the tree especially when they are in dilapidated condition and the answer was, they do not act until it is really in very bad shape. But what i see several trees have fallen down around Campal, Taleigao, Caranzalen areas and the government property were damaged but if they have acted in time these could have been saved. PWD is another department which delays taking action and lasy. When contacted the Manager he said that Fire Brigade comes only after the tree has fallen. What kind of situation we have in Panjim? Are these organisations interlinked to each other and wait for instructions? I think, this Goverment must streamlined these procedures and save the government property as well damages on houses, vehicles and even passerby pedestrians if bad trees falls down. These procedures should be executed much before the monsoon. Stephen Dias Senior Citizen Dona Paula 20.9.2019 Sent from my Samsung device
