Adios Vassant Bandodkar

He was born on 24-9-1944 to Mr Shantaram N Bandodkar and Mrs Premabai.
Brother of Vatsal , Dattaram, Eknath ,Anil, Nirupa and Milan. He was deeply
grieved at the untimely departure his brother Anil and of Eknath’s son
,Parvesh . He is survived by wife Mrs Rekha, who was always a dependable woman
and a reliable pillar of support ,who gave up her career to devote time to the
family. His daughters are Dr .Laveena,(1992 , 41st rank) Dr. Sharveena,( 1993
,44th rank) and son Dr Gautam. The daughters were brilliant students of SMA
and rank holders at SSC. He was ecstatic, filled with great joy and happiness
at the success of all his children. He shifted residence temporarily to Margao
in order to facilitate their studies by ease of commuting. My daughter too not
only received invitation to be with them during the breaks, but comfort and
care of home. I am greatly indebted to the family for this affectionate
gesture. His daughters received a number of merit awards from P.C.Trust, which
he requested them to share with the deserving and needy students and not use
for themselves in any way and they willingly obliged .It speaks volumes about
his philosophy and attitudes of sharing . He founded two awards in the memory
of his beloved parents with P.C Trust for the First student at SSC and First
Girl from among the students of schools of Chinchinim Village. He showed his
intentions to enhance the awards someday. His relationship and interactions
with the society remained selective by his nature and not by any standard of
pride or complexes.

To him goes the credit of mentoring the family after unexpected demise of his
father. They looked up to him with respect and for guidance. Being Science
graduate he secured licence to run Pharmacy business and helper his brothers
to do so. The Bandodkar family very reasonably adjusted themselves in the
ancestral property, thereby living in harmony and complete unity. . He started
his career as an effective science teacher at Mount Mary`s High school,
Chinchinim. He was admired and loved for his rapport with the student and
colleagues . Colleagues have pleasant memories of his association in the
school .He resigned voluntarily and accepted the assignment/placement with CBI
Bank and finally retired as the Branch Manager with great satisfaction and
fulfillment of his cherished position of honour

Mr. Vasant was not only well versed with the content of the Bible but also
practiced it, which surprised me. I had great respect for him as the colleague
in the school and often shared moments with him during illness, last being on
Diwalli, when he had health issues . His relationship with colleagues is worthy
of praise, as he was respectful and non interfering, but on the contrary
helpful and co operative .It was interesting to share his company and be
absorbed in his simple but effective philosophy of life .No hatred, jealousy
towards anyone, nor did he ever speak ill of others. Criticism was not part of
his dictionary, but on the contrary appreciation was his forte. His health
issues continued for a while but he was under the love and care of his family
of doctors.
Who made his life comfortable .He did make efforts to venture out and family
took him on short outings . He was not the one to burden friends with his bag
of worries and always have positive note whenever he was visited .
During the last few days of hospitalisation, his health grew weak though he
fought hard with a rebellious spirit. He called it a day and breathed his
last on 29-12-2019 and was confined to flames at Margao Crematorium amidst his
close, near family and friends, who always held him in high esteem due to his
affectionate ,simple , humble nature and admirable, respectful behavior

May his memory survive long and serve as a reminder of a person worthy of our
praise and honour
