NOW GAADOS NEAR NIO COLONY? A wide 'footpath' is coming up along the NIO colony compound wall on the road to apna bazaar. (Varying between 2 to as much as 6 mts in places). There is a plan to accommodate some of the excess gaados from Miramar here. Apparently GSIDC is setting up an open seating area for tourists at Miramar which means they have to move some of the existing gaados. They have been asked to pack up and there is a proposal that they move to this new location at the side of our NIO colony.
Once these gaados come here, there will be similar crowd as there used to be at Miramar, with vehicles on road, chairs, tables etc eating bhel puri, pani puri etc and our place will be dirty, similar to the area opposite the Sharada Mandir school. These gaados will be housed at Boot Bunglow and sideways overnight and whenever not in use. I think our NIO staff must gear up to stop such movement if takes place at the vicinity of our colony. Our children and Green Rosary students will also suffer. I was told no permission is taken either from NIO administration side nor Our Lady of Rosary school authorities. There are no approval boards either and to make the situation worse a road is started being developed for vehicles coming from the White House restaurant along the retaining wall at the sea view side and going towards Nelson Cabral's residence and joining at a narrow portion of the Dona Paula-Bambolim (E Borges road) mid way on the slope. This is very poor planning. It will create heavy traffic congestion at a dangerous spot. This spot is opposite a road going to Bay View where traffic is already heavy and an 8 floor construction is coming up illegally on a 4.5 mtrs wide road. (Despite a letter Sanjit Rodrigues issued to the PDA.) Hope our Government think before the situation is aggravated and finds a solution.
