It certainly does not defy logic. In fact, it is an amalgam that binds
Ghana, Goa and Quepem.   Deão Jose Paulo entertained great visions for
Quepem.  He has left the lasting legacy by erecting  the impressive Palacio
do Deao. Little is known about the imposing welcoming columns at the
entrance to Quepem.  Not far, between the villages Xeldem and Nagvem lies
the infamous "door of no return" just as in Ghana.
