Wondering when was such a measure adopted in the history of mankind. Humans are suddenly being deprived of nourishment to soul. The regular faithfuls cannot stomach unprecedented lockdown f or the welfare of humanity .Under normal circumstances it is un thinkable ban on religious traditions, customs and practices. Not attending Sunday mass and watching on TV is dispensation ordained by authorities .The Holy week the most sacred spiritual exercise is put on hold. The palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday. Good Friday .Easter will have to be piously observed from the confines of homes and the thought is depressing too . Accepting it as the will of God for the welfare of his creation is solace and consolation The faithful are not spiritually comfortable with the alternative and emotionally and pshycologically under severe mental stress .adjustment to TV viewing is not providing religious depth. and spiritual solace. Although sick and elderly are used to this practice as there is no alternative. Our authorities have taken steps to fill the spiritual hunger through reflections ,daily Eucharistic celebrations ,broadcasts that fill the much needed void .It is equally hard on the ministers of the religious orders to function in isolation different from collective praise and worship Pope in his message has clarified the way to confession in present times and have stated studied response .Weddings can be postponed but funerals , a mass participations practice is cresting a great distress on complying with the mandate with few family members in attendance. Baptism too has same restrictions if it cannot be postponed ,The ceremony of blessing of sacred oils ofanointing are shelved Religious life and practices are out of bounds Just as staying at home is strain , stress and agony so is deprivation of spiritual life practiced over centuries. The priests too have been forced to adjust and reinvent themselves to cater to spiritual and their personal needs. What is God’s plan and message for us. Too long we have been pre occupied with rituals traditions and customs . It appears that the message is loud and clear , if deaf can hear and blind can see .Go out and care for your neigbour. more than you ever did. We glorify, praise God but as soon as we leave his house , many resort to all types of human indignities of worst types .We pay lip service towards our fellow men while we piously, devoutly ,strictly observe the rituals, than our behaviour and actions God lives actuality in his creatures more than in sacred structures. Will we realise the silent message towards compassion, understanding of human race or be confined to selfishness, greed, pleasure principle and put God aside seeking him only in man made sacred places When we come out of this test of fire, will we refined, purified of our ways of the world and make a visible change to ouselves and others. ? The world is united once like never before in this crisis of corona pandemic. breaking barriers of all physical boundaries. It is unitedly that human race can preserve itself forgetting National boundaries of pride and egos. God wants to reform us thro this unique crisis of death, fear .We will spell our own doom, if we pay no heed to his message. Repentance , obedience and sacrifice, prayers can the human race has be saved of many calamities as over centuries. God has the power to do unthinkable what men cannot even imagine .Let us pray for his intervention and miracle will happen as God is metciful, loving, forgiving and compassionate.
