GL responds:
Goans replace their own ignorance and stupidity with discrimination and verbal
put-down of others.  This starts even within our family; then the negativity
extends progressively the further the individuals are from us.  There is
peculiar attitude and feeling that critiquing others somehow reflects how
superior and smart one is.  Also critiquing others helps pass the time when one
is a betel in a pile of dung.
There is a saying out in America - "One cannot fix stupid".
What is sad, even the educated who should know better have the same attitudes.
Discriminating against others is not a solution to "having a chip on one's
shoulder."  Jealousy does not achieve success.  Persistent hard work and
dedication is the only way to progress and advancement.

The verbalization 'Goanism' was coined by me to address the arrogantly
repulsive and discriminatory trait perpetrated by those in the upper echelon of
the caste system against those further down that hierarchy.

the need of the hour is a Goan Catholic Truth Commission. It could be in
Cyberspace. We Goan Catholics are guilty of a whole lot of discrimination, both
within our community and without.
