This was a festival in Leipzig Germany (more known for its industrial trade
exhibitions) organized by the Light In Babylon musical group, with 42 dancers.
Once can assume most of the dancers were Israeli and Turkish, given the group’s
connections. Israeli and Turkish women are naturally seductive dancers, the
Israelis because of the biblical King David dancing tradition and the Turks
from their mystical Sufi whirling dervish dancing culture.

Light in Babylon was created by a female Israeli-Iranian vocalist, a French
guitarist and a Turkish santur player. They perform both on the streets of
Istanbul and the concert halls of Europe.

If you ever visit a kibbutz in Israel, don’t miss out on an opportunity of
viewing the young Sabra (native born) women doing the middle eastern Houra.
However plain, rough and rustic these women might look, once they take a few
steps, it is as if Salomé has just stepped out from the pages of the Torah.
