Portuguese Sea Forts Goa. With Chaul, Korlai And Vasdi Jaico Publishing House, Mumbai This is a guide book, beautifully produced and at 499 Rps, in 2015 a real bargain. The Photographer was Sunendra Kumar. Inside there are colourful layouts of the fort as if they were pieces of heritage tapestry. The beauty of this glossy book is that it tells you quite a bit about the links between the sea, oceans and gateways and early Portugese colonialism based in Goa. ::::Forts were much more than defensive sites, they were chapels and Churches, convents and monestries and mansions for the officer, gardens and places to grow food. Invariably, their location and vista n were stunning. ::: There contents, starting on page 22 tells us that are nine Forts in Goa alone and another 3 in “”Provincia No Norte””::l :::There is a glossary and an Index, Goa has 40 entries ::: The word “ramparts’’ beats all entries !! I visited Fort Aguada more than 10 years ago. I was impressed by so many aspects including the fresh water supply, escape passages etc Adolfo Lost In Goa PS if Amita Kanekar had written on the Portugese Forts in East Africa there would be no work for me
