What intrigued me about this book was that the author was born in nearby Margao but went to school in Kenya, continues her education in Mumbai and earns a MD. Then returns to Goa and works as a Pathologist. Encouraged by her husband, the book is dedicated to him for encouraging her to bring out her hidden talents.::: :::The book is as Goan as can be; meaning that it runs across into several generations, there are obedient adults, both men and women who listen to their.aunts and who arrange for suitable suitors. There are Africandars and young man who suddenly are offered a place in UK provided they rush immediately, even a compounder makes a sudden appearance (p90) There is poverty and wealth The pathologist comes through, there are kind people & villains. The 27 Chapters do not give a clue of Content. Instead of Chapter titles they begin with the same sketch of five coconut trees close to the sea and low hills in the distance. Sushila spins a fine yarn the book could be turned into a thriller in all the major Woods – Holly, Bolly and Nolly. All this based for a mere 55 Rps ! Grandolfo Somewhere in Quepem
