International Cuisine Conference on Traditional Asian Diet Panaji, Goa, September 2-5, 2007 - http://www.indologygoa.in Online Media Partner: http://www.goanet.org ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Eric I am not too keen to waste my time on your explanation that is pretty convoluted but nevertheless welcome. Now I hope that, re the supposed gentleman you are, you will apologise for stating in your prior post to this one below that, I said that "hordes" of numbers had descended on London. "Hordes" is the language of the tabloid gutter press in the UK to describe migrations into the country. I used more sophisticated language like "significant numbers" that more truly reflects actual numbers that have arrived from Poland. So, will you apologise please, for getting the wrong end of the stick, intentionally or unintentionally, and attributing entirely wrong words to me? Also, please see my comments in BOLD below. However, I wouldn't lose any sleep if you didn't. You also have got the wrong end of the stick regarding the problem noted of Catholic Poles (with an emphasis on their Catholicism), in relation to adjusting to multicultural Britain. I was specifically pointing out to the fact of the racism of this Catholic lot who have recently entered this country and needed to be educated about their new abode by British Catholic clergy including the bishops, but not by the likes of me. I made no "plea" whatsoever on this count or do you have to misread everything I write so readily? Finally, as you showed an aura of concern, please rest assured that the Polish new comers, (understandable as new comers), live largely in the poorest parts of London and not in the more salubrious areas of outer London increasingly peopled by those, including Goans, who have lived and settled here over a long time. In brief, we really are quite OK and you shouldn't worry on our count. Do bear in mind too that, we do know your set-up in New York rather well too. Cornel DaCosta eric pinto wrote: It was not tabloids and, perhaps, you dont recognise him any longer, but i remember this lament on our forum : Polish arrivals demand white school teachers, assault non-whites etc. This was followed by a plea,[THERE WAS NO PLEA CDaC] on Goanet no less, for both state and church intervention in the form of plan of education, to bring them in line with the thinking and ethos of ' a muticultural British society '.[THIS IS TOTALLY INACCURATE AND A MISREPRESENTATIN OF WHAT I HAD SAID CDaC] I dont intend to comment further on your plan to to educate church officials in the West about what you consider the prevailing system of racial prejudice amongst Goan catholics [OH NO! I REFERRED TO THE RACISM OF CASTE, not racial prejudice amongst the Goans]: I even wish you well. I hope my kin in Goa finally see the light of day, and are able to see you in a more kindly light. eric. ------------------------------------------------------- Goanet recommends, and is proud to be associated with, 'Domnic's Goa' - A nostalgic romp through a bygone era.
