TMC, Cong, Left should form pre-poll alliance in WB
Elvidio Miranda
All the opposition parties in West Bengal like the Congress, the Left, and
other major contenders should form a pre-poll alliance with the Trinamool
Congress to defeat the divide and rule devious designs of the BJP who seek to
use undemocratic means to come to power in the State. Under no circumstance
should the BJP not be opposed unitedly even if there are ideological
differences for which fences can be mended. What is the use of repenting when
the battle is lost, if before the battle meaningful consultations are not
started in right earnest and differences sorted out? No anti-BJP major group
should go alone as this will mean splitting of votes, which should not happen.
The formation of a pre-poll alliance of anti-BJP parties will definitely signal
victory for the constituents and thus all efforts should be explored to nullify
the BJP unitedly. The widespread anti-farmers laws which most farmers in West
Bengal are seeking to repeal is an added advantage. The votes of the farmers is
a big advantage for an alliance of State unity. The anti-CAA, NPR and NRC are
also being opposed by an overwhelming majority of Bengali citizens. The Bengali
tradition of giving credit to merit can be preserved only by a united front
against a divisive BJP. Let the Congress, the Left and other major contenders
not regret later as of now their ideologies are a subject of accommodation
while it is agreed that the BJP should under all circumstances be kept away
from ruining the noble traditions of a sturdy and proud Bengali people who
should protect their unique identity at all costs. Let not the BJP sleight of
hand for disunity signal an avoidable regret. Indulge in a process of
consultation to avoid regret later.
