A very warm Birthday greeting to my dear friend Raju Nayak who turns 60
today. Raju is currently the Editor of the Goa Edition of the Marathi daily
Lokmat. A prolific writer and author of many books, Raju was earlier the
Metro Editor for the Goa edition of Times of India.
The multi-faceted Raju is a journalist and author but has always been an
activist at heart. His writings have focused on the degradation of Goa’s
environment while expressing concern about the catastrophic dangers that
lie ahead. Raju in his write ups and editorials has dared to take on the
Government head on for having failed to protect Goa’s environment. Raju’s
name cannot be omitted from the list of those battling to protect Goa’s
environment. He has written extensively on the disastrous effects of
illegal mining and diversion of Mhadei waters.
Raju, Goa will remain always indebted for the daunting task you have been
undertaking to highlight through the power of your pen and the clarity of
your vision about Goa Government’s faltering environmental policies. You
have proved that the Pen is mightier than the sword.
