Preserve Old Goa'sold world vintage charm
Elvidio Miranda

Old Goa is one of the last bastions of the Renaissance era churches and
spiritual heritage that has to be preserved since it houses the Basilica de Bom
Jesus, Se Cathedral, Santa Monica monastery, Museum of Christian Art, the ruins
of St. Augustine and the St. Cajetan church which are all in one place that
celebrates architectures such as Gothic, Corinthian, Byzantine, Norman, Baroque
which will never be able to be replicated. It is also the holy city which draws
huge crowds like no other city in Goa and the last vestige that makes Goa to be
called as the Rome of the East. This place is known for having exquisite
architecture and which houses the sacred relics of the Goencho Saib whose
blessings are sought by everyone who visits Goa. The replication of such an old
world charm is not possible. It is the duty of the Government of India, the
Archaeological Survey of India and all well meaning citizens of Goa to make it
a point that under no circumstances should this old sacred city be adulterated
by compromising its solemn spiritual heritage value. It should be an election
issue for the residents of Old Goa and its neighbourhoood to join forces to
prevent the desecration of this Old holy city that is venerated by one and all
who visit Goa.
