Leon Trotsky once wrote "You may not be interested in war, but war is
interested in you". Many Goans have been clueless and indifferent to the land
war being waged against them till it hits their doorstep and then they wake up.
There is a global land war being waged against ordinary citizens by their own
governments - everywhere, even is so-called democracies. An attack on rights,
income, primarily with the end goal of usurping land and its related resources.
In the last 20 years, the land wars have come to Goa and ethnic Goans are badly
losing the war. Not only is the government lined up against them but powerful
outside forces collude with Goa's own building and mining mafia. And let's not
forget many "journalists" are either the front for the land mafia or clueless
as to what is going on, either way does not reflect well on "journalism".  Only
a few are not timid or compromised.

Look in any direction in Goa and there is a land scam in progress. And Goans
have been complicit along with the legal profession which helps with the
"paperwork regularisation" (land scams cannot happen without lawyers). Even
diaspora Goans refuse to assist their own family in Goa and would rather sell
ancestral land to a non-Goan rather their own family (who by the way may not
always be angels). Or the other stupidity happens - donate land to the
church/temple which in turn engages with the land scammers.

You reap what you sow.

I totally agree.

Instead of a single Nero fiddling while Rome burns, all Goans except for a few
earnest citizens who can see what’s happening, fiddle while Goa decays like a
rotten fruit.

Elsewhere, there would be anger and disruption with people chasing away vote
seeking candidates and totally boycotting the election, but in Goa, the people
continue to accept crumbs thrown at them like penniless beggars, flock liquor
stores, celebrate birthdays and weddings and put even Nero to shame.

Who suffers? Not George in Berkeley, Roland in Toronto and Salus in Melbourne.

Wake Up you slothful, lazy buggers. Your sussegad has stopped being a virtue
after 1961.

George writes;
There is no ceiling to the level of corruption in Goa. The govt at all levels -
village, panchayat, sarpanch, state govt., state govt. departments, etc.
actively work against the interests of Goans, in collusion with the building
and mining mafia, many of them non-Goans.

With Goa in dire straits and sinking into the grave, compare the fluff about
fun, feni, fish posted in Goan forums and Goan magazines/publications, and the
never ending nostalgia of a Goa that once was while Goa is headed off the cliff
while Goans frolic. Ethnic and cultural suicide is not a pretty scene. Goa, RIP
George.
