Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting Goa on 14th October. Though the
official reason given is that he is coming to lay the foundation of a
Forensic Science College Amit Shah will ostensibly be here for BJP related
work in view of the Assembly elections due in a few months.

Does it need the Union Home Minister to come all the way just to lay the
foundation of a project, that too plans of which have not yet been
finalized let alone approved?

We still remember that on 1st July 2017 for the first time ever in the
history of our country, within the high security precincts of an airport
the BJP held a public meeting addressed by then party President Amit Shah
at the Dabolim Airport. In total violation of law and contrary to Airport
regulations, Amit Shah was allowed to address that meeting of party
workers within the airport premises.

I was constrained to take up the issue with the High Court and an
undertaking was filed by the Director of Airport Authority that it will be
ensured that no such occurrence ever repeats.

The ruling party cannot be allowed to vitiate the sanctity of Institutions
by acting in sheer and gross abuse of power.

The only silver lining of this Amit Shah’s visit to Goa is that his route
will see the roads quickly repaired and free from potholes.
