The Church in its wisdom has devised this plan to remeber the souls and to offer them prayers.The dead cannot pray for themselves How long shall we continue to offer masses and feel they are still in need of prayerful intervention,. THE Church does not accept masses after 3 years.The graves too are dug up. wearing of mournful robes discarded ,decoration of graves included ENOUGH IS enough after third death anniversary for worldly display of public sentiments. Our concerns for the dead are out of guilt complex,fears of reprisals, trying to amend for our negligence.No time to spare , no flowers or gifts on birthdays, no appreciation but it is all reserved later in their absence.Now we will adore remains in niche or photos with lamps.Resort to all types of charities in their memories. THEY neither feel or we can touch them in earthly sense. These rituals , traditions and customs is only to pander for public consumption.Why reserve these extraordinary gestures of love so late What you attempt when alive is what really counts and is meaningful Do not wait until death to inscribed on tombstone, for then it will be not seen ,read by those to whom it is directly or intended
