Basically, to think that right here in Dar es Salaam, there was was a Goan Philharmonic Orchestra that played at least twice a year in the Empire Cinema or at the State Function of the British Governor. The youths Jerry Luis, The Fernandes Brothers and several others started Jazz as a counter movement. Soon Goan classical Musicians just faded . Going back to over 2 decades ago, I cannot think of anybody learning to play the violin or the piano or singing the classic. Many can play the electric guitar etc
