The construction of the church started in 1954 and was completed in 1957. It
was quite possible that Fr. Maschio brought in some Italian construction people
for the work. The architecture, design and look definitely reflects a native
Italian concept, but it would not have been the Italian POWs who worked on it,
since the Brits left in 1947 and would not have been able to keep their human
war baggage after that.
