Our Carmo seems to be blazing a lot of trails in the ivory towers of Florida's world. In fact he seems to have come a long way from his previous forays into patenting the Goan kashhti, standing on his beach-side condominium apartment wearing nothing but the said loose loincloth flapping in the Caribbean breezes that sometimes results in loins being stirred.
However as in the nature of a true trail-blazer, our Carmo has now turned to other more esoteric pursuits. We happily note his Department in Florida Tech now offers graduate studies in engineering management and systems engineering. The next programs to be offered naturally being management engineering and engineering systems. Now many of you out there must be asking "what is the difference between engineering systems and systems engineering and on the other hand engineering management and management engineering?" Rather than give you an indirect wavering answer, it is in the personality of our Carmo to be forthright and tell you that you have to stop being 'Botlers and Shippies' and make attempts to enter IITs. All will then be clear to you. Now being the multi-tasker that he is (don't forget his manual on cheating at exams is still the recommended text for enterprising students) he also conducts Warren Buffet classes that increase your net worth substantially enough to be invited to the Oracle of Omaha's annual shareholder meetings where you will be served a large size corn bun and lukewarm coffee. The rich don't splurge. In fact at one such meeting in the future our Carmo intends to present his Wall Street-beating technical analysis software that has found a solid correlation between cashew tree yields on Salcete hillsides and momentum movements of emerging market ADRs on the New York Stock Exchange. Guaranteed to make every purchaser a millionaire many times over. And to those of you who like Cecil measure the relevance of non-resident Goans by what they do for Goa, our Carmo is again not one to be left behind. He has spent enormous time and effort (and that means money) pushing gifted politicians like Manohar Parrikar whose claim to Bharat Ratna greatness is to completely revamp the IIT campus canteen in Powai. It may be another matter that Manohar is a man before his time and that all the shippy and botler voters in Goa couldn't see well enough to vote his party into power. Carmo will see to that. After all he has recently announced that he will be visiting Goa soon and those wishing to obtain darshan at his durbar will get to see the great man man in person. Eat your heart out Sai Baba. The Department of Engineering Systems at Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech) offers popular graduate degrees in Engineering Management and Systems Engineering. The Department is headed by Dr. Muzaffar Shaikh, who is a graduate of Bombay University. Among others, its distinguished faculty also includes Dr. Carmo D'Cruz, Professor of Engineering Entrepreneurship, who is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
These are very exciting times for the Department of Engineering Systems with new courses and curricula that address a practicing engineer's concerns.
