Thank you for these three references. I will try and see if I can hold
of at least the first one. Given the titles and authors, reading all
three would be even better time permitting.

A good short introduction is "Khaki Shorts and Saffron Flags" by Tapan Basu, Sumit Sarkar et al. There is "Fascism of the Sangh Parivar" by Ram Puniyani (copies of the latter are available with me, price Rs 100).

There are also a number of documentary films which document the activities and ideology of the RSS/Sangh Parivar, including "The Men in the Tree" by Lalit Vachani, and "Final Solution" by Rakesh Sharma. There are also video recordings of lectures by eminent historians on this subject, including Sumit Sarkar.
