Independent India Nelson Lopes Independent India a dream
India at 70 still an infant Nation in woes Millions of our citizens are in pain and throes Mother cannot feed them with the food that grows Hatred, fear, poverty ignorance is what politics sows. How long before, we raise our heads with pride ?, When will, equality, liberty, fraternity ,freedom, ride? Why does corruption, crime, exploitation have to hide? Our leaders only promise, but forget to guide . Food, water and shelter Indians ask How many years of await to complete the task? Dreams, glory ,pride in which politicians bask. Development, growth is only a wearable mask. One day everything in India we will make Only willing, but non to take Dividing India for God`s sake Language, regions, caste are breaks, India will shine, when poorest raise their heads with joy When the girl is welcomed, still lauding birth of boy Intolerance of religion, culture, freedom is a political toy Dream of Development ,growth mantra is a clever ploy. Agragarian India, not farmers suicides, the nation to feed Lopsided industrial policies, the Nation do bleed Sab ke sath, sab ka vikas in action is the need There is enough, but not to satisfy everyones greed. Politicians survive with people divide Appease the poor with sops they provide Secretely their destiny alone they guide The rich, and powerful with whom they side. When will average Indians get their dues? Leaders care two hoots for their views, Politicians at election, display their hues Merrily turn and twist without cues. Independence day is spent in revelry, promises galore Mouthing platitudes of military valour Nation comes alive in vibrant colour Eloquent speeches, selling dreams ,best endeavour. Another Independence day will draw the curtain Hope of better next year, is certain Light dispels darkness of needs and wants Ask what you do for India a favourite taunt. Unity in diversity will only unite Religion ,language, culture must not divide Peace and harmony must spread wide India when becomes country of our dream >From roof tops we can happily scream Nelson Lopes, Chinchinim Nelson Lopes Chinchinim https://lopesnelsonnat.wordpress.com
