FEDERATION OF ALL GOAN CLUBS (Kudd), Mumbai 108/109, Fram Mahal, 544 Kalbadevi Road, Dhobitalao, Mumbai 400 002. Phone: 9819995828
FEDERATION OF ALL GOAN CLUBS (Kudd), Mumbai organizes an open meeting on Clubs (Kudd) affairs on 17 th December 2023 at 10.00 am. at the Rosary School Hall, Opp. the Rosary Church, Navelim, Goa. Mr. Elias Vaz, President, All India Catholic Union and Rev. Fr. Gabriel Coutinho, Parish Priest, Rosary Church, Navelim will grace the gathering as the chief guest and guest of honour, respectively. The meeting will be preceded by a Thanksgiving Holy Eucharist at Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim, at 8.30 am. Club members, irrespective of whether their Clubs are members of the Federation or not, as well as Members of all Goan Catholic Associations are most welcome to join in. After the last meeting of the Club Federation in Goa, many clubs got the Registration done on a large scale except a few clubs who are yet to be registered with Charity Commissioner, Mumbai under Trust Act and Society’s Registration Act 1960. We had to call this meeting again due to various other problems. We intend to accept views, suggestions and guidance so that we are able to solve the problems through your help and compliance. A few clubs are left and its our responsibility to save them for posterity. Today there are very few members in the clubs. The fees charged are not enough to meet the various expenditures like rent, electricity bills, maintenance, etc. Funds are also required for writing of accounts, file Returns with Charity Commissioner and Income Tax Authorities, to pay for getting Pan Card, etc. Pan card is required to get electricity Bill transferred in Club’s name. This is required to show proof to Court that the premises belong to the Registered club and not to the individuals in whose names the Rent receipt is issued then since the clubs were not Registered. The members on whose names the Rent Receipt was issued were the Managers of the club then and their heirs have no right of inheritance of the rented properties. The expenses are also required to get the Lawyer to obtain affidavit from the heirs of the deceased members in whose names the Rent Receipts are issued by Landlord, to declare that they have no personal interest as their Fathers/Grandfathers were the Managers of the clubs holding the rent receipts on behalf of the clubs. This is necessary as some legal heirs have sold some clubs and a few of them are in court with Landlords claiming their right. This property is a gift by ancestors for the benefit of the members in their respective villages. The value of rented properties are sky rocketing in crores. Landlords are going to court to vacate the clubs. The clubs in Mumbai are an asset and an identity of the Goans. Some people cannot afford to come to Mumbai because accomodation is too costly. Even if they have relations or friends, they cannot accommodate them due to shortage of space. Club Members must not give up on clubs in Mumbai just because they are now in a position to live without clubs. We have to come forward and help the clubs to raise funds to renovate the premises, provide bedding, proper electricity, put up partitions and make rooms for families. If proper set up is done, clubs will get many visitors who will pay on daily basis. Herds of Catholics all over India will come to Goa next November to January for the Exposition of the relics of St. Francis Xavier. This is an excellent opportunity for us to make accommodation available at affordable cost in clubs in Mumbai, so that they can book their tickets to visit Mumbai and Goa. The President and the members of the Managing Committee of the Federation are committed to help the members to the best of their ability. Fausto V. Da Costa (Vice-President-Goa)
