I've only just seen Nelson Lopes's post titled "The myth of Abxi". I have recorded my dad's encounter with Chandor's version of this creature, Cottapshi (Ghost of the Fort), in the story, Kerosene Shadows, in my book, The Sun In Her Hair. He gave my 14-year-old dad the right royal fright of his life one late night. You could have read the account online, earlier, from the sample segment Amazon makes available on the book's website, but they have now reduced viewable pages to just fifteen, or only the first two stories. If anyone is interested, I can email you the story if you ask me, nicely, at [email protected]. The story also offers a glimpse into the frightening and magical place that Goa seemed to be to small boys from Bombay visiting their homeland for the first time.
