Picnic Recap - August 10, 2025
A big thank you for making our picnic such a lively and vibrant success!
From chutney sandwiches to Goan fish curry, prawn curry, and more - the food
was as delicious as the laughter and fun. Watching the kids enjoy the games
truly warmed our hearts.
A heartfelt thanks to the committee and community members who helped make it
happen. Here's to many more!

Senior Goan Highlight - Lino Rodrigues
Lino Rodrigues was born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on September 7, 1938. As a
young child, together with his parents and three siblings they frequently
visited Goa, a place that would forever remain close to his heart.
On November 3, 1963 Lino married Augusta in Dar es Salaam. They took a
courageous leap of faith and migrated to Los Angeles in 1969, seeking a
brighter future for their children. Lino had a distinguished career in the
airline industry. Beyond his work, he is most proud of being a husband, father
and grandfather-blessed with three beautiful children and five precious
grandchildren.
Lino always carries with him a deep pride in his Goan heritage. He shares:
"I love Goa, as it's known for love, culture, and peace. I love being Goan, as
we are a special people-full of love, joy, and tremendous faith. Our culture
has always been about the land, people, faith, and our love for one another."
In Los Angeles in 1970, he was among the founders of the Goan Overseas
Association (GOA), an organization dedicated to unity, family, and joy.
Together, Goans celebrated traditions, spoke their language, Konkani, and
strengthened their bonds of love. His favorite dish is Sorpotel, and his most
cherished celebration is the Feast of Saint Francis Xavier, the Patron Saint of
Goa.
To the younger generations, Lino offers timeless wisdom:
"Know that Goans have traditions, and tradition is what you carry from one
generation to the next. Always remember what Goa means. Have pride in being a
Goan. We come together in festivities with faith, love, and hope for one
another. Unity amongst us must be genuine, not a showpiece- it's a God-given
gift to live with hope."
A life worth living is rooted in faith, family, heritage and a legacy of love.
