Considering that the site in the village of Mopa in the district of Pernem
was identified about ten years ago for an airport, this particular point
seems like it is emanating from a latter day Rip Van Winke! A lot of the
area has already been acquired, some of it is under notifcation of
acquisition and some area is proposed to be acquired. The total adds up to
1100 hectares. or 2700 acres. Forget Mopa. Investigative energy may be
better spent on figuring out where the third airport could possibly be
located in South Goa, right between Dabolim and Seabird Karwar, a distance
of 70 km.
