International Cuisine Conference on Traditional Asian Diet Panaji, Goa, September 2-5, 2007 - http://www.indologygoa.in Online Media Partner: http://www.goanet.org ------------------------------------------------------------------------ What you said about Panaji is true, the situation in Margao is worst and Mapca is second to it, In Margao in particular now adays its difficult even to get a parking for your motorbike, and if its a car you have to park it atleast one Km away and walk the distance to the market, on the other hand thieves peacefully get your Car Stereo and any valuables inside the car because these are not paid parkings, even Motorbikes are vadalized, Margao and Mapuca must have paid parkings with security to keep watch over parked vehicles. Goa Govt. must take necessary action to solve this problem ASAP. There are also plans to build multi-storeyed pay parking structures in atleast three palces in the heart of Panjim(Market, Municipal Garden and CCP headquarters). The parking facility at the market should be ready and functional any day now. If you visit Panjim you will be pleasantly surprised to find an army of fluorescent-jersey clad traffic wardens (all women!), ruthlessly clamping the wheels of all illegally parked cars. People have now resorted to staying in their cars while illegally stationed to avoid fines. This is not to say that it has become easier to find parking in Panjim nowadays. With approximately a thousand new vehicles being bought every month, these measures are barely sufficient, and I don't know if similar steps are being taken in other urban centres.
