DUBAI Seventeen teams will battle for the Pehla Cup in the 4th
annual All Goa inter-village football tournament at the Iranian stadium here
from September 20.
The
tournament, presented by Seven Stars Exhibition Organising, is sponsored by
Arab Digital Distribution. The opening match is between SFX Old Goa and ABC
Benaulim scheduled at 4pm, followed by Vanxim Divar and Siolim United. Both are
Group A matches.
The
teams were divided into four groups during the draw held at the Hilton Creek
Hotel, Deira, on Sunday night. Group A comprises Vanxim Divar, SFX Old Goa, ABC
Benaulim (Emirates ICA) and Siolim United. FR. Agnel Pilar (EKFC), FC Siolim,
AVC Moses Eleven and Anjuna in Group B. Aldona United, Marriott Boys Carmona,
Navelim Clipsal and Goa Velha Al Zuari in Group C while CAC Cansaulim Mafario,
Raia, St. Anthony Pernem, Nuven Al Seer Dubai and St. Anthony Siolim are in
Group D.
Bony
Fernandes, giving details of the tournament, said the duration of matches
during the league stage would be 20 minutes each way while the quarter-finals
would be 25 minutes each way. Semifinals and final will be 30 minutes, 35
minutes each way respectively.
The tournament
is co-sponsored by Petrolcom Oil and Gas Services with Carl Stahl, Wood Group
Engineering and Modern Design Construction Company as support sponsors. The
co-support sponsors are Refrigerant Equipment, Emirates Flight Catering and
Corvair Technical Company.
The draw was supervised by Nelson Silveira, Benjamin Rodrigues, Miguel
Francisco and Savio Azavedo.
