Now, it’s a tussle
for Cabinet berth

BY HERALD REPORTER

PANJIM, SEPT 28 – The legislators of the ruling
dispensation appear to be lobbying hard for a Cabinet berth in the proposed
reshuffle, even as a tight-race is on for the Congress ticket for the South Goa
Lok Sabha bye-election.

Even though it is uncertain whether Chief Minister Digambar Kamat would have a
Cabinet-reshuffle, now that bye-poll has already been announced, MLAs are
making a beeline to the national capital.

The indications are that Kamat is in no hurry to execute a reshuffle and that
he is likely to call on AICC President Sonia Gandhi and discuss the issue on
Monday before the party chief leaves for the US.

Sources told Herald that St Cruz MLA Victoria Fernandes who is presently in
Mumbai is scheduled to visit Delhi
tomorrow and call on the High Command.

Interestingly, Taleigao MLA Babush Monserratte who was camping in Delhi for the
last few
days and returned today is likely to rush back to the national capital over the
weekend.

Both Monserratte and Cortalim MLA Mauvin Godinho are the frontrunners for
Cabinet berths.

It is learnt that Curtorim MLA Reginald Lourenco who is in Delhi is scheduled
to meet senior Congress
leaders.
