This brings to mind a historical episode of the
Crusades. In 1095 Pope Urban sent out an edit all over
Europe for man, women, child and beast to rise and
make haste to Jerusalem, so that the heathen "Muslim"
be destroyed and Jerusalem reclaimed by Christianity,
since the day of the anti-Christ was near and if no
Christians were to be found in Jerusalem, they would
all be damned.

Now, ofcourse the first to respond were a gaggle of
peasants most of whom were serfs and villeins back
home and had nothing to lose. This gaggle grew into an
army that marched across Europe. Unfortunately, so
incited with hate was this army that they ransacked
and pillaged every city they came across regardless of
rank or religion. Their favourite targets being Jews
because besides Muslims, Jews were heathens too.

Now it so happened that when they reached Hungary it
was customary for the nomadic folk of this country to
offer visitors hospitality. Mistaking this generosity
for meekness, they began to attack the Hungarians.
This was to be a tragic mistake. The Hungarian Slavs
may have been nomadic peasants but they were vicious
warriors and they butchered the Crusaders until only a
handful made it to Jerusalem where they were promptly
butchered by the Turks.

The Sangh should learn from history, that it repeats
itself.
