Western tourists came to goa since 1960s and many of them come every year. Some of them through no fault of their own managed to buy houses and live longer in goa.i .They bought them by paying hard earned clean money and not laundered black money like many of the INDIANS who have real estate to hide all the crooked money thereby raising the price of properties. It is not these western tourists who have pushed the prices; some of them have been buying houses in goa long before this skyrocketing prices. It is the greedy politicians and the builders and the filthy rich indians with black money who have fuelled this problem These tourists spend heavily to our economy and keep lot of people employment. They also promote our tourism by spreading the word around when they go home.besides, a lot of indian tourists come to goa because of this so called western tourists.unlike western tourists, the locals are not big spenders. I agree that those who stay illigally and involved in drugs should be packed off but others should get benefit of doubt. WHY NOT ALLOW PEOPLE TO STAY LONGER IF THEY WISH TO. They should not be made scapegoats for goas ills.If we are not careful, we will loose them forever as there are plenty of other places to go to and with gobalisation and flights becoming cheaper and cheaper, there are plenty of other choices.
