Brit held under Children’s Act

BY HERALD REPORTER

MARGAO, OCT 16 — Colva police on Tuesday arrested a 29-year old British
national under the Goa Children’s Act for keeping a minor laamani boy at his
Apartment at Colva.

The young foreign national had checked into a holiday apartment at Colva
recently and had kept the 12-year-old minor boy in the house, offering to
educate him.

Colva PI Edwin Colaco informed that the police acted based on a complaint,
adding, that the foreigner had no right to house the young boy with him without
completing the necessary formalities.

Preliminary police investigations show that the foreigner had reportedly met
the boy’s uncle at Khareband and sought his permission to keep the boy at his
house for the purpose of education.

Taking no chances, the Colva police have sent both the boy and the foreigner
for medical examination.
