Folks
I am intrigued by the term "Macacas" for South Asians in some parts of
America. Pray, what is its origin? I also came across another term used for
South Asians in the Boston area. I think it was "sand flies" but stand
corrected. Hopefully, the "dot busters" are a thing of the past, when in recent
memory, some American youth gangs attacked South Asians and referred to the red
dot Indian women used on their foreheads as a signifier.
