Dear Agnelo, Much has been going on these days and long discussions about the church, caste system etc in Goa. Well initially we are given to understand the divide began at the church committees itself, mostly called the confrarias. many bramin priests, or some who thought they were bramins promoted this bramins first policy. Ask me, in Margao...till date such braminism prevails. Forgive some people who write here and try to preach on Goan issues yet on the other hand they claim to have not spent enough time in Goa itself.
As form one gentleman (?) or is he? from canada...you mentioned in your last mail....ignore him, his opinions smack of so much lack of knowledge of the ground knowlede of today's Goem. Roland has on various occasions tried to mess up with my postings too by replying up with some, malicious lucklusture mails...but in such cases...ignoring that source is the best policy. End of the day he is united with us in the same land and the same church. I have been following your writings and see that you are totally very much in touch with the ground realities that go on in Goa these days...well done! But over the years, this caste system has seen a decline as in Goa...most of the people have worked hard to make a decent living for themselves....there are many instances wherein the once rich and influential brahmin families have lost out in the race of life as their other counterparts have made enough money and have earned the right respect in society, Lets pray for a WORLD WITHOUT CASTE DIVIDE!
