THIRTY FIVE PERCENT TURNOUT at South Goa's elections. My goodness what is
happening here? Seems either one of four things, the first two are nonsense of
course but worthy of mention just the same

  i) The electorate were unable to attend due to opening & closing times of the
Polling Stations

ii) The electorate were unable to attend due to pressure from others not to
attend

iii) The electorate were so sure of their party winning they became
complacent & decided the trip not worth while

iv) The RESIDENT electorate were too busy working (in the Gulf, Canada, UK
etc) to take time off to vote, became complacent that their party would win
anyway.

I am sure there are many posters here who would like to add v) vi) vii) viii)
and many other reasons......... lets see what you say.

This is a disaster for Goa, that only 3.5 out of a possible 10 people of
voting age came out to vote, is this indicative of the times, or that people
now feel disenfranchised with their politicians, after all it makes no
difference who wins, the promises are never kept, the infrastructure will not
change, it will not get better and what a waste of time it is to take time off
work / get out of bed or the fields.........

Sometimes its better the devil you know than the devil you dont...........
